Enjoy a First World War adventure at The Great War Exhibition with your holiday programme, having fun among Sir Peter Jackson’s realistic movie-like sets of World War One. Children will be challenged with a secret mission and activities which help them understand life in the war.

We offer the following themed programmes:
April 2018: ANZAC Day — What is the significance of Anzac Day? What does it mean to New Zealanders today? Holiday programme groups can find out while exploring The Great War Exhibition, completing secret missions and working on Anzac-themed crafts. The Great War Exhibition brings Anzac Day home through Sir Peter Jackson's realistic movie-like sets, genuine artefacts, and colourised photographs of World War One.
July 2018: Transportation in the War — The First World War was a time of immense technological change. Explore how transportation evolved through this period of time. Exhibition-based missions, close encounters with actual artefacts. Make and test First-World-War-inspired winged, flying creations.
September–October 2017: Animals in The War — Find out about the role of animals in the First World War by participating in an animal-themed secret mission, crafts and activities.
Children will complete their themed secret missions while exploring The Great War Exhibition, supervised by your holiday programme staff, then participate in craft activities under the supervision of our TGWE staff. Our programmes are tailored to suit a variety of ages, so we cater for most groups. You may book a morning or afternoon two-hour activity block:

Cost $8 per child. For only an additional $4, children can also receive an adventure pack containing a booklet of First World War activities, toy soldiers, a balloon, a pen and poppy-making materials. Add value to your visit by exploring Pukeahu National War Memorial Park next door, picnicking in the grounds, or venturing into downtown Wellington. We are within easy walking distance of the city centre.
Our maximum group size is 40 children (divided into two groups of 20), plus accompanying supervising adults. If you have a larger group, please contact us to discuss options.
